    Two runners have been rescued from the Tararua Ranges


    Maritime NZ's rescue coordination centre received an SOS from the pair on Te Araroa trail about 2pm yesterday.

    The pair sheltered in a hut during poor weather.

    A commercial helicopter couldn't get to them -- and the RNZAF's NH90 rescued the pair.

    Defence Minister Judith Collins says there was concern they mightn't make it through the night - in horrific weather.
