Jennifer Love Hewitt was "very scared" to film a post-partum storyline shortly after giving birth

The 45-year-old actress - who tied the knot with Brian Hallisay 2013 and went on to have Autumn, 10, Atticus, nine as well as three-year-old Aidan with him - stars as Maddie Han on the drama series '9-1-1' and was still pregnant with her youngest when her alter ego began experiencing symptoms of depression after giving birth on the show

She told UsWeekly: "It was crazy. I was seven months pregnant when we finished the beginning of [Maddie's] postpartum storyline, and then I had to come back and finish it right in the middle of postpartum.

"So it was very cathartic for me because I was able to use a lot of what I was going through with Maddie when I came back to the show. But it was also very scary. I was like, 'Am I awakening more of this in myself? Am I going to be OK?'"

Despite her struggles, the 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' star was keen to emphasise that her castmates couldn't have been more supportive as they rallied around her to "check in" around filming.

She said: "[They were] checking on me to make sure I wasn't pushing myself too hard into it, and that it was OK. And I really felt like I was able to give a real glimpse into what it can look like. I was in it. So it was, sort of, my dedication to any women at that time who were also having that [experience]."

But friends of the Hollywood actress assumed that she was pregnant again and she had to remind them to differentiate between real life and fiction.

She said: "The amount of people that texted me and were like, 'So does this mean [you're actually pregnant]?' I was like, 'No, I can do one real one and one fake one, people.

"So let me just clarify. I am not pregnant again. I am too tired. I have three children, I'm good."
