Pakistan red-ball coach Jason Gillespie has resigned from the job after just seven months in charge

Pakistan red-ball coach Jason Gillespie has resigned from the job after just seven months in charge

Tensions has been escalating between the former Aussie quick and the Pakistan Cricket Board in recent weeks, after the PCB dumped one of his assistants without telling him.

In October, Gillespie was removed from the selection panel for the test side.

Gillespie was expected to still travel for the two-test series in South Africa starting Boxing Day, but then communicated to the PCB that wasn't planning to board his flight this morning from Adelaide to the Republic.

Aqib Javed - the interim white-ball coach - will also take charge of the red ball team for now.
