A selection coup from New Zealand has helped defeat England by 423 runs in their final cricket test of the year at Hamilton, despite losing the series 2-1

It marks an appropriate farewell to Tim Southee after a 16-year, 107-test career, with the winning margin equalling the country's largest triumph by runs set against Sri Lanka at Christchurch in 2018

Captain Tom Latham has pointed to Mitchell Santner's return to the XI on his Seddon Park home ground, notching 125 runs with the bat and delivering figures of seven for 92 with the ball.

Visiting skipper Ben Stokes says the result is bittersweet.
