Charlotte Church is returning to music

The former child star, 39, has taken a step back from the spotlight in recent years and now focuses on running The Dreaming - a mansion in the Elan Valley where she runs wellness classes - but Charlotte has revealed she's planning to channel her new Earth mother persona into her first new album in 15 years which will be more experimental than her classical roots or previous pop efforts

She told the Guardian: "I'm going to release an album, hopefully, in 2026. I'm meeting indigenous elders in Peru, Burkina Faso, Australia ... I want to sing about nature, healing and sisterhood.

"I want to create experiences. to really make people feel."

Charlotte added that she no longer wants to rely on making money from her entertainment career and isn't too concerned about whether the new record will be a hit.

When talking about her decision to set up her wellness retreat, she explained: "On a personal level, I also didn't want to have to make a living from showbusiness any longer.

"I wanted to make art and music, but not be reliant on celebrity; to live more in line with my values. With the money I had left, I wanted to invest in the land."

Charlotte sank her life savings into the project and admits the business is yet to turn a profit, but she has no regrets over her decision to invest in the retreat.

She added: "We're not breaking even yet here. I've taken a lot of financial risk. But I fell in love, and that was it."

It comes after the singer admitted she's no longer a millionaire despite amassing a £25 million fortune by the time she was 11.

Charlotte previously revealed her wealth has dwindled away as she reflected on her decision to sell The Spinney, a six-bedroom rural mansion in Wales.

She told Closer magazine: "I am not a millionaire anymore. What mattered to me when I bought The Spinney is it was absolutely beautiful and close to the forest and it was a big mansion house.

"We had a school there for a bit and a studio. When it is used by the community, it makes sense, but when it is not used, it doesn't. We want to be in the mainframe and be involved in life and what it feels like.

"I was very fairy-tale-like and then it gets into this dark, twisted fairy tale. "When I think back on it now, the path I am on is very interesting in the way I reflect rather than the way I look at what happened to me."
