The Reserve Bank's being commended for its wait-and-see approach to global trade developments

The Reserve Bank's being commended for its wait-and-see approach to global trade developments

It's sticking to its plan -- cutting the Official Cash Rate by 25 basis points yesterday, with another cut expected next month.

It's waiting to see how trade barriers affect inflation, before deciding what to do next.

Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says it's a rapidly changing situation.

He says the Reserve Bank doesn't want to commit too much fire power too quickly, and that's proven overnight to have been the right call.
