A Dunedin man is appealing his life sentence, for killing his mother with a ten-kilogram dumbbell

A Dunedin man is appealing his life sentence, for killing his mother with a ten-kilogram dumbbell

Jordan Taylor was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum period of 10 years, in October 2023, for killing his mother Anita.

He'd turned 18 just days before.

Open Justice reports Taylor's lawyers have told the Court of Appeal in Wellington his sentence should be replaced with a finite sentence of between 13 and 15 years' jail.
