The trial of the woman accused of murdering her children and leaving them in suitcases, is approaching its final stages, with closing statements expected today

45-year-old Hakyung Lee's appearing in the High Court at Auckland over the deaths of her two children in 2018.

She's raised a defence of insanity, brought on by her husband's death.

The jury's heard two weeks of evidence including from friends, family, health workers and forensic psychiatrists.

The Crown argues Lee knew she acted immorally, and suggests her actions before and after the killings indicate pre-meditation.

But the defence argues that while she accepts she caused their deaths, she was mentally unwell and trying to commit suicide at the time.
