Beyonce's daughter Blue Ivy was named after a blueberry

The origin of the 14 year old's name came from someone who told the 44-year-old singer, her 56-year-old husband Jay - and her grandmother, 72-year-old businesswoman Tina Knowles, that she was the size of the fruit inside Beyonce's womb.

In a lengthy, heartfelt post to mark Blue Ivy's 14th birthday on Wednesday (07.01.26), Tina took to Instagram and captioned a photo collage of her granddaughter over the years with: "I remember the day that we found out about you being in your mom's womb.

"We could not have been more excited! We were told that you were the size of a blueberry and that is where your name came from!

"We all prayed together for you every single day till you were 12 weeks old in your moms belly! Then we prayed individually until you arrived months later. (sic)"

Tina - who is also mom to 39-year-old singer Solange Knowles - is proud of her granddaughter.

She continued: "It was apparent that you were a fighter from the beginning, and you talked very early. And you were always smart as a whip we played Princess and Barbie dolls All the time and your imagination was incredible.

"To say that I'm a proud grandmother is an understatement! Even with all of your accomplishments and success, you remain a very sweet, kind humble human being.

"To my manager, makeup artist , fashion adviser , my love. Happy Birthday (sic)."

Elsewhere, Tina recalled how Beyonce - who has Blue Ivy, as well as eight-year-old twins Rumi and Sir Carter, with Jay-Z - threw up between songs at her 2011 A Night With Beyonce concert special taping because she was secretly two months pregnant with Blue Ivy.

Captioning a throwback clip of the Halo hitmaker powering through the performance amid suffering from severe nausea - which was posted on Tina's Instagram account on Wednesday (07.01.26), she penned: "This just came across my feed! It took me down memory lane.

"This is one of the hardest shows we've ever done. Beyonce was about two months pregnant with Blue and as nauseated as she could be.

"In between songs, she would run back and throw up and come out and do the next song. This is when I knew without a doubt how strong and resilient of a performer she was.. we couldn't tell anyone about the pregnancy. Only @tytryone me and Tim White knew.

"As sick as she was, she got through the show and killed her performances. All the band and crew knew was that she was sick . but not why. (sic)"
