Samantha Hanratty found shooting 'Yellowjackets' while pregnant "kind of traumatic"

The 29-year-old actress and her husband Christian DeAnda welcomed a baby boy into the world on New Year's Eve (31.12.24), and she's admitted shooting the "entire" latest season of the survival drama while expecting her baby was tough

She told People magazine: "That in itself is kind of traumatic. Your body's making a life and whatnot, so ... it was very physically taxing."

However, Samantha - who plays the teenage Misty Quigley in the Showtime saga - found being pregnant during the shoot also helped her "get into character.

She explained: "We're really out there.

"We're really running, we're really sweating, we're really sometimes bleeding - so yeah, it's definitely very real."

The 'Seeds of Yesterday' actress - who hasn't publicly revealed the name of her son - hailed her little boy "the greatest gift in the world".

She gushed: "Honestly, he is literally the embodiment of prayers and dreams into a person.

"He's just the greatest gift in the world. I am so obsessively in love with him. It is the best.

"Being a mom is amazing, but being his mom is what I'm meant to be."

Samantha previously announced her son's birth on Instagram.

She shared a black and white picture of the baby's hand clutching her finger and wrote: "And just like that...my world got brighter[sunshine emoji] 12-31-24.(sic)"

In September, the star had explained her son would need multiple surgeries after birth because doctors had found he would be born with a cleft lip - which occurs when facial structures developing in an unborn child don't close completely - and potentially a cleft palate.

She said in a video shared to TikTok: "I've been doing some updates on here and having a good time sharing these things with you and I thought I would share our latest update that our baby is going to have a cleft lip and a possible cleft palate.

"And at first the news was obviously shocking because it doesn't run in my family, it doesn't run in my husband's family.

"And the biggest thing that we all want is that we want our kids to be happy and we want our kids to be healthy."
