Some food prices that have shot up in the last few years, are starting to ease

Some food prices that have shot up in the last few years, are starting to ease

Figures from Infometrics and Foodstuffs reveal supplier costs to supermarkets rose 2.3 percent in the year to September.

This matches August's result, following a stretch of monthly increases.

Infometrics Principal Economist Brad Olsen says butter prices have eased ever so slightly, as dairy production becomes stronger.

He says products like olive oil have also seen prices fall, with more cooking oil production coming through.
