Mark Ruffalo dreamt of how he would perfectly punch Ryan Reynolds in the face for a scene in The Adam Project

The scene in Netflix's 2022 time-travelling movie sees 48 year old Reynolds' character Adam Reed - the future version of 57 year old Ruffalo's on-screen son, played in the present by 16 year old Walker Scobell - punch his dad Louis Reed (Ruffalo) in the face after being warned to not go back in time to his own timeline as the two versions of the same person could cause problems with the space-time continuum

Louis strikes back and punches Adam in the face, leaping into the air and kicking his right leg behind him - and Ruffalo imagined the clash in a dream.

In an interview with GQ, uploaded to YouTube on October 17, Ruffalo was asked by the interviewer: "How many times did you have to punch Ryan Reynolds to get that scene right?"

The actor replied: "Once. It was written that way."

Reliving the scene, Ruffalo explained: "We did a rehearsal, and I had a dream that that's what the punch should look like, and I just did what I did in my dream, and we did it, and they're all laughing.

"And [director Shawn Levy's] like, 'Well, let's do it again, but I think we have it.'

"That was one of those moments where the spontaneity just - it was right."

Mark and his 53-year-old wife, actress Sunrise Coigney, have three children - son Keen, 42, as well as daughters Bella, 20, and 17 year old Odette.

The actor played Bruce Banner/Hulk in numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, beginning with 2012's The Avengers, through to 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

And at The Avengers (2012) premiere, Mark revealed one of his daughters - who was "probably five" - "burst into tears screaming" when she saw her dad "explode" into the Hulk.

Asked what it was like seeing himself as the Hulk for the first time, he said: "Weird. I didn't see it until the premiere, and my daughter, who was probably, I don't know, five, was down the row from me.

"And I was watching me explode into the Hulk, and she just looked on at me, and she burst into tears, screaming.

"She ran up and jumped into my arms. She was like, 'Why do you want to hurt the nice lady, Papa? Don't be the green man.'"
