Support for changes to dog control laws following a deadly dog attack in Northland

Emergency services were called to a Kaihu home yesterday morning where a person was found dead at the scene.

Local Government Minister Simon Watts says the Department of Internal Affairs is working on improving national data and dog control guidelines.

Kaipara District Councillor Snow Tane says he'd like to see more consistency across councils.

He says guidelines need to be properly understood by councils, councillors, and compliance officers.
