    A Dunedin man has been charged with evading more than 1.4 million dollars of GST payments


    The 43-year-old man is charged with undervaluing imported heavy machinery, on top of avoiding GST at the border.

    Customs says the under-valuations have taken place over the past six-years.

    Customs investigators, along with Dunedin police, carried out search warrants in Dunedin and Cromwell yesterday - and arrested the man.

    The Police Asset Recovery Unit has also restrained about six-million dollars of property.
