Big dogs can now travel on Auckland trains - but pet owners will be kept on a tight leash

Big dogs can now travel on Auckland trains - but pet owners will be kept on a tight leash

The second phase of Auckland Transport's pets on trains trial has begun - which allows dogs of all sizes on during the off-peak times.

Previously, only small dogs were allowed.

Councillor Cathy Casey says it will make life easier for dog owners.

She says it means people will be able to take them to the vet without having to order a taxi.
