Global powers are calling for countries to increase their carbon reductions schemes

Climate Minister James Shaw has just returned from the COP25 talks in Madrid.

Leaders negotiated into record overtime at the summit, only to leave with a watered-down deal which pushes key decisions to a future date.

Shaw says the consensus was more countries need to take more action.

Shaw says the Government will need to sit down and see what that will mean for New Zealand.
