There's criticism of Auckland University's purchase of a five million dollar central city home for its incoming Vice-Chancellor

Professor Dawn Freshwater will rent the Parnell house from the university, when she starts her new job in March.
Students are calling the purchase a "slap in the face".
New Zealand Union of Students' Associations president Isabella Lenihan-Ikin wonders why the university had to provide accommodation for a highly paid executive like Freshwater.
The university paid 1.5 million dollars above the council valuation for the house.
