Name suppression orders have been granted, following a double homicide in Tauranga this week

Name suppression orders have been granted, following a double homicide in Tauranga this week

A 25-year-old man who's now facing two murder charges, has appeared in the Christchurch District Court.

The accused's lawyer asked for name suppression to protect his right to a fair trial, for mental health reasons, and because of fears of retaliation.

Judge Tony Couch granted suppression of the victims' names, at the request of police.

The 25 year-old will next appear in the High Court at Tauranga on 26 February.
