A police decision not to lay charges after a sexual assault investigation in Palmerston North was "sound"

A police decision not to lay charges after a sexual assault investigation in Palmerston North was "sound"

That's according to The Independent Police Conduct Authority.

In 2017, a woman complained to Police her employer had sexually assaulted her.

Police did not lay any charges and the woman later raised concerns a senior officer was friends with the alleged offender

The Authority concluded Police made an appropriate call not to prosecute, but says they breached policy by not giving the woman a written statement on the decision.
