    Two men are due to appear in court today at opposite ends of the country over separate random alleged stabbings


    A 37-year-old man is due in the Christchurch District Court charged with the murder of a woman in her 50s in Sockburn.

    She was making her way home from work on Saturday night when she was killed.

    Meanwhile, the 41-year-old man charged after a mass stabbing in Murrays Bay last week, is due to reappear.

    He's charged with assault and four counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

    The man first appeared on Friday, where he didn't enter a plea, was given name suppression and remanded in custody.
