Fewer people will be eligible for free flu vaccines this year

Fewer people will be eligible for free flu vaccines this year

Wider funding, from the past two years' COVID response, has now ended.

Around one million people who are pregnant, over 65, or who have specific medical or mental health conditions, are eligible for free vaccines.

Children under 12, and Maori and Pacific people between 55 and 64, no longer qualify.

Pharmac acknowledges it's difficult news for these groups - but says it's had to make tough choices about what it can deliver within its budget.

The vaccine will be available at health practices and pharmacies from April 2.
