One person is dead -- and seven others missing, after two Japanese navy helicopters are believed to have crashed into the sea, during a training exercise

One person is dead -- and seven others missing, after two Japanese navy helicopters are believed to have crashed into the sea, during a training exercise

Local media reports they were conducting anti-submarine exercises near Torishima, off the southern coast of central Japan.

Both flight recorders had been recovered, but the search for the missing crew continues.

Japan's Defence Minister says it's likely the two choppers had collided.
