    Positive signs for Christchurch's tourism

    Positive signs for Christchurch's tourism

Visitor spending rose significantly in the first quarter of the year, compared to the same time last year.

International spending rose more than 25 percent to 127-million dollars, while total visitor spending increased by 10 percent.

Christchurch NZ's head of strategy and planning Nick Bryan says international spending from December to March were the highest on record.

He says it's good news to see an increase in both the value spent and volume of transactions in a difficult time for consumers.
