    A wanted man's been arrested after a period of negotiation with armed officers in Christchurch


    The Armed Offenders Squad were called to a Mairehau address around 8pm last night.

    Canterbury Metro Area commander superintendent Lane Todd says police took appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of nearby residents.

    The 41-year-old will appear in court today on a number of charges - including threatening to kill, assault and kidnapping.
