A coastal west Auckland community wants rules for driving on beaches tightened

A coastal west Auckland community wants rules for driving on beaches tightened

Auckland Council says the bylaws aren't fit for purpose.

Nineteen-year-old Madison Chamberlain died when a ute flipped on Muriwai Beach, in January.

Muriwai Community Association co-chair, Clare Bradley, says current regulations are ineffective.

She says the voluntary permit system doesn't reduce how many people drive on the beach.
