Kylie Minogue "presumes" that people know who she is

The 56-year-old pop superstar is one of the best-selling female artists of all time and recently enjoyed a resurgence in the US after scoring decades of hits in the UK and in her native Australia but is still astounded that other celebrities are aware of her existence

Speaking on 'The Bert Show', she said: "I presume largely that you don't know who I am. Natasha Lyonne knows who I am. The fact than anyone and everyone but I just presume, like...'Well they probably haven't heard of me...'"

The 'Spinning Around' legend - who began her music career in the late 1980s following a two-year stint on the Aussie soap opera 'Neighbours' - admitted that part of her "drive" now is just to keep growing and learning within her career.

She said: "I guess that's part of my drive is that I still feel like I'm discovering and I'm trying to prove to myself and other people, I want the output to be better. For my creative satisfaction, to be better, more expansive and I just don't assume that anyone knows who I am. Hi, my name is Kylie thank you for being here today!"

The 'Lights Camera Action' hitmaker was then asked what it is like to be out when one of her songs is played, and revealed that the last time it happened was after the Met Gala and while she was "slightly embarrassed" in the moment, she just had to dance along.

She said: "It is awesome. The last time it happened, and the last time I was literally [out] at 4am, I was on cloud nine, I had such a good time. It was after the Met Gala.

"The DJ played my song a couple of times and I was slightly embarrassed. I thought 'What do I do? How do I look cool?' But I just kind of danced because I thought that I couldn't not be moving to my song!"
