Tingjun Cao is standing trial, charged with murder over the Christchurch real estate agent's death.

Cao - who is defending himself - is currently cross examining Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves, asking if she trusts her colleagues.

He claims 71 witnesses have made false statements - which Reeves says is not true or accurate.

Reeves says not only does she trust her colleagues, but the investigation itself has been run with the highest integrity, adding its ethical and lawful.

Court has gone into chambers following questions Justice Lisa Preston has deemed impermissible.
