Selena Gomez feels "sad" to read so many comments about her weight

The pop star/actress, 32, has admitted she tries not to look at nasty posts on social media but she's "human" and "sometimes I read things" - insisting she "will never" look like a model and putting fluctuations in her size down to the medication she takes for chronic autoimmune disorder lupus

During an appearance on the 'On Purpose with Jay Shetty' podcast, Selena explained: "This isn't news to anybody that obviously women have a lot more intense feelings from their appearance ...

"When I get prepared for an event, 90 per cent of the time I'm just like: 'I just hope I can take the picture and sit down' ...

"[I try not to look at comments but] so many different things that come up in my face, that I can't help but see ... I fall victim to looking at things."

The 'Emilia Perez' star added: "It's the character [she's playing] that gets judged: It's the way I'm not white enough, I'm not Mexican enough ... nobody cares about those kind of things with men.

"My weight's a big one too. Everyone just has something to say and it's really making me sad and - not even sad 'cause, I'm not a victim, everyone - I just think it's made me a tad bitter and I feel really guilty for saying that but it's true ... "

Selena explained she has taken all her social media apps off her phone, but she still sees nasty comments.

She said: "I'm human and sometimes I read things. But I do, most of the time, ignore everything. I don't have anything on my phone at that moment. So, there are ways to combat it.

"I'm not in, like: 'I hate it'. I understand the power of what social media is. It's just tricky."

She added of dealing with issues linked to her medication: "I would rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they're what helps me.

"Not a model, never will be. And I think they're awesome, mind you. I'm just definitely not that."
