Further evidence of the slowdown in the construction sector

Further evidence of the slowdown in the construction sector

Latest figures from Stats NZ show there are 1.2 percent fewer filled jobs than there were a year ago.

Jobs in the construction sector have fallen six-percent.

Westpac Senior Economist Michael Gordon says things are continuing to slow, after the surge in construction work we saw after the pandemic.

He says the pipeline is now slowing down, with no work to replace it.
