The Capital and its surrounding areas are next in line for severe weather

The Capital and its surrounding areas are next in line for severe weather

Hundreds are still without power in South Canterbury, after wind gusts up to 224 kilometres per hour were recorded overnight.

A red wind warning for Canterbury is due to lift about now - with winds expected to ease.

MetService Meteorologist John Law says a heavy rain warning's in place for the West Coast, with Buller and Tasman forecast to receive the most rainfall.

He says there's warnings for Wellington, Wairarapa and Marlborough too - until the early hours of Monday. 09-21-25 1448
