Health NZ says the confirmed case is no longer infectious and the case was likely linked to overseas travel.
At least six other people are being assessed for infection.
Possible exposure locations are still being identified.
The National Public Health Service's Susan Jack says people should watch out for high fevers, sore red eyes, and a rash spreading down the body.
She says New Zealand's at high risk of a measles outbreak so there needs to be awareness.
