The North Island is suffering another weekend of weather chaos and it may be in for more

Waipa and Otorohanga have been put into States of Emergency.

The Otorohanga region has suffered flooding which has killed one and led to the evacuation of about 80 people.

There's been serious damage to the water system of the Waipa town of Pirongia .

Gisborne Mayor Rehette Stoltz says residents need to be mindful of the weather and avoid flood waters.

Stoltz says there has already been damage caused by the weather.

She says there has been surface flooding and damage to brides in the north of the region.
