The Government is taking the strongest statutory steps it can - to improve oversight of police

A watchdog investigation has revealed police ignored allegations Jevon McSkimming was a sexual predator - and instead prosecuted the woman for digital harassment.
The former Deputy Police Commissioner last week pleaded guilty to having child sexual exploitation and bestiality material on his work devices.
The Government says it will install an Inspector-General of Police to bolster oversight.
Public Service Commissioner Judith Collins says the woman at the centre of this has been failed.
She says it would not have happened if senior police at the time acted with integrity and properly investigated allegations when they were made.
