The New Zealand cricket tour to Australia scheduled for January 30 to February 8 has been postponed

The New Zealand cricket tour to Australia scheduled for January 30 to February 8 has been postponed

The government has rejected proposals by the countries' respective bodies to extend the tour so the Black Caps could return home via a more manageable MIQ process.

Since the tour was scheduled, spots have become mandatory again due to concerns about the Omicron variant.

Understandably, NZC didn't apply for any before circumstances changed.

The chances are that the tour could be delayed for at least another season given the countries' upcoming schedules.

Disappointment for Kiwi Erin Routliffe and Canadian partner Leylah Fernandez at the Australian tennis Open in Melbourne.

They've lost their opening doubles match to an Aussie wildcard pair 6-3, 6-1.

Black Caps Devon Conway and Tom Blundell return to bolster the Wellington Firebirds in tomorrow's crucial T20 Super Smash round robin match against Auckland.
