    Police are on the hunt for a man who pointed a gun at officers in Palmerston North last night


    Officers spotted the man walking in Highbury at about 8:30pm and approached him - believing there was a warrant for his arrest.

    Police say, after attempting to take him into custody, the man became agitated, presented the firearm, and fled the scene.

    A spokesperson says its believed the man also pointed a gun at a member of the public.

    A Police operation is currently happening on Brentwood Avenue in the area - but it is unclear if it related to the firearm incident.
