As a flurry of National MPs claim levies are not taxes, NZ First's leader is openly disagreeing

The Government's imposing a levy to help pay for an import liquefied natural gas facility, which it says will save households 50 dollars a year on power bills.
Labour's Chris Hipkins described it as a gas tax.
Finance Minister Nicola Willis says that's absolutely wrong and Prime Minister Chris Luxon called it a load of rubbish.
Speaking to The Platform, Winston Peters made his opinion clear.
He says people are making excuses, but if you have to put your hand in someone's pocket for money, it's a tax.
