Jamie Lee Curtis has paid tribute to her late father Tony Curtis and says he has left “a legacy of great performances” and “fans all over the world” following his passing on Wednesday (29.09.10).

Jamie Lee Curtis has paid tribute to her Hollywood legend father Tony Curtis who died on Wednesday (29.09.10).

She said: “My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages.

“He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world.”

Tony’s sixth wife Jill Vandenberg – whom he married in 1998 - also made a statement outside their home in Las Vegas, noting all he had ever wanted to be was a “movie star”.

Jill – who was 42 years younger than Tony, who passed away aged 85 - said: “He died peacefully here, surrounded by those who love him and have been caring for him.

“All Tony ever wanted was to be a movie star. He didn’t want to be the most dramatic actor. He wanted to be a movie star, ever since he was a little kid.”

Jill also revealed the ‘Some Like It Hot’ star – had been in hospital a number of times in the last few weeks for obstructive pulmonary disease and lung problems.
