Why was the appeal filed late?

Why was the appeal filed late?

This question in relation to the case of teen rapist Jayden Meyer's nine-month home detention sentence.

Massey University adjunct professor of law, Chris Gallavin, says during proceedings, the Crown never asked for Meyer to receive imprisonment.

He says there's no good reason the appeal was filed so late.

Gallavin says the Solicitor-General rejects the idea they only re-looked at the case after public outcry.
