Controversial evidence around double murderer David Tamihere - who's trying to clear his name

His conviction for the deaths of two Swedish tourists is before the Court of Appeal in Wellington - 33 years after Tamihere went to jail.

He was released on parole in 2010.

Open Justice Reporter Ethan Griffiths says lawyer, James Carruthers is pointing to crucial evidence from a jailhouse informant.

He says Carruthers sees them as controversial pieces of evidence.
