Firefighters will return to the scene of three South Island fires overnight

Crews have been battling a vegetation fire on hillside above Lake Dunstan in Central Otago.

A crew is now patrolling the fire ground.

Firefighters have also been battling blazes at Templeton in the Selwyn District and Glenham in Southland.

Fire and Emergency's Daryl Ball says they'll return to both this morning to make sure there's no hotspots.

He says no properties have been damaged - but one firefighter was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation from the Templeton site.
