NASCAR Truck Series driver Layne Riggs dislocates shoulder while celebrating his first victory

American driver Layne Riggs pumped his arms in the air after securing his first ever victory. Moments later, his team was helping him pop his shoulder back in.

American NASCAR Truck Series driver Layne Riggs was so excited by his first victory in the competition that he jumped on the roof of his ute and pumped his arms in the air.

The next moment he was back on solid ground getting his shoulder popped back in by his pit crew.

The 22-year-old from North Carolina was so up and about with his win in The Milwaukee Mile that he pumped his arms too hard, dislocating his shoulder and leaving him in intense pain.

Riggs managed to jump off the roof of his vehicle, before his team manoeuvred the shoulder back into place.

"I dislocated my shoulder I was celebrating so hard," Riggs told Fox Sports after the race.

"It hurts like a mug, but it was worth it.

"It's not the first time it's happened to me but it ain’t gonna slow me down."

The rookie is on the way up in NASCAR, having sat in 15th in the regular season standings. He was not a favourite to win in Milwaukee.

"I've learned so much though in my rookie season and after the start, I thought, 'There's no way we're gonna get a win,'" he said.

"We'll do the best we can but we're just learning for next year."

The shoulder-popping incident comes two months after French swimmer Rafael Fente-Damers suffered the same injury while celebrating his qualification for the Paris Olympics.
