36-year-old man to face court accused of assaulting Auckland bus driver

A 36-year-old man's been charged and will face court, accused of assaulting an Auckland bus driver over the weekend

The driver has stitches and a dislodged tooth, after what he says was a racially charged attack by a passenger on Saturday.

Police arrested a suspect in Avondale town centre yesterday.

He'll appear in the Auckland District Court on Friday.

Inspector Wayne Kitcher says Police have zero tolerance for violence on public transport.

He says one deserves to come to work and be harmed doing their job.
