An assault charge has been laid against the partner of a New Zealand-based Australian diplomat

An assault charge has been laid against the partner of a New Zealand-based Australian diplomat

It follows an early morning altercation with Police - just hours after the Bledisloe Cup match between the All Blacks and the Wallabies in Wellington last month.

The man's diplomatic immunity was waived by the Australian Government allowing the charge.

He's been summonsed to appear in the Wellington District Court on November 14.
