A judge has told a Dunedin man found guilty of ill-treating animals - to be better-trained himself

A judge has told a Dunedin man found guilty of ill-treating animals - to be better-trained himself

Luke James Ruane Maloney has been jailed for six weeks, after his neighbours alerted authorities to him berating two American bulldogs.

The ODT reports, the 35-year-old's remand status made a prison term the only option.

He's also banned from owning a pet for two years.

Judge Jim Large called Maloney's alpha male attitude and discipline in training the animals, concerning.
