A lender's been fined 200-thousand-dollars in the High Court at Christchurch for charging up to 182-percent interest on loans

A lender's been fined 200-thousand-dollars in the High Court at Christchurch for charging up to 182-percent interest on loans

Eagle MAN's been ordered to pay the fine for providing high-cost loans which breached the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act.

Commerce Commission Deputy Chair Anne Callinan says most of the company's loans were to consumers who were financially strained, recent immigrants, or on temporary work visas.
