    A former Speaker of Parliament has described behaviour during the debate around ACT's Treaty Principles Bill as sad


    Labour's Willie Jackson called David Seymour a liar, while Te Pati Maori co-leader Rawiri Waititi compared the party to the KKK.

    Parliament was briefly suspended as Te Pati Maori MPs led a haka while voting was taking place.

    Former Speaker of the House Sir Lockwood Smith says it was as bad as he's ever seen.

    He says people elected to parliament are meant to be the leaders of our communities and some of our most respected citizens.
