The manhunt's on for a man wanted over the death of a former gang president shot dead in Lower Hutt

Police have a warrant to arrest 28-year-old Wipuhara Kapene, who is understood to be a Black Power member.

Thirty-nine year-old Albert Enoka was shot and died on Seddon Street in Naenae last week.

Kapene's considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Police says it's likely he's receiving help - and they will look to prosecute anyone assisting him.

Enoka's funeral is today with Police expecting traffic disruption in the morning as gang members travel between Lower Hutt and Porirua.
