The latest signing for the Wellington Phoenix women's team could be a midfield general for the side

One-cap Football Fern Amelia Abbott has completed their first-team roster by signing for the remainder of the season ... after four years at the University of Texas.

The last two years, the Longhorns won the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference tournaments back-to-back.

Abbott was a key member of the New Zealand side that memorably finished third at the Fifa Under-17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay in 2018.
