Challenges for the Queenstown Lakes District Council, as details emerge about the Shotover Wastewater Plant's disposal system

Challenges for the Queenstown Lakes District Council, as details emerge about the Shotover Wastewater Plant's disposal system

Otago Regional Council issued five infringement notices this month, relating to the improper discharge of contaminants at the plant.

The District Council has now admitted the disposal system has experienced performance issues, which have resulted in periodic spillover of treated water.

It's allocated 77.5 million dollars to develop a new strategy for the plant in its Long Term Plan.
