The 28-year-old flanker is one of five uncapped players in the side to play France in three home tests next month.

The other rookies are Chiefs front rowers Ollie Norris and Brodie McAlister - and the Highlanders duo of lock Fabian Holland and utility back Timoci Tavatavanawai .

Kirifi says it was a special phone call to get yesterday.

Coach Scott Robertson says Kirifi has been in great form.

The Crusaders duo of midfielder David Havili and flanker Ethan Blackadder - and Blues loose forward Dalton Papali'i have all missed out on selection.
